The festivities at the Guruji Talim Ganpati Mandal began in 1887 after two families — one Muslim and the other Hindu — decided to install an idol of Ganesha for public viewing .It was established as a symbol Hindu Muslim Unity. This is the first Mandal in Maharashtra who celebrated centenary. Contribution is not collected from public, all the expenditure is shared by members of the mandal.
The Mandal is known for its special idol decorated with attractive jewellery donated by traders of the Laxmi Road when the Mandal completed its anniversary a couple of years ago. Founded in 1887, the Mandal is installed the idol in an illuminated pagoda erected specially for the festival. The idol displays golden crown, necklace and ears.
